I do something that started out as MRIN filing and morphed into nested
family folders.

All photos and documents go into one folder for each marriage. The files
are named chronologically so the thumbnails tell a story. All the other
information; keywords, captions, source, copyright, locations, GPS,
etc., is embedded in the files. This makes it easy for searching as well
as capable of producing PDF's and slideshows using some or all of the
embedded info.

All the folders are nested by family starting with the direct line
folders so, theoretically, between the nesting and embedded information
the MRIN's could be left out.
