I have similar issues with German locations before the unification.
Documentation is based on the locations used at the time so States such
as Prussia now do not exist. I also have issues with locations in the
Baltic States where the documentation refers to the German name for the
location but in order to find the place, the program needs the current
identification to find it on the map. It is nice to be able to locate
the place to see where they may have moved to or what other places are
nearby.

It would be nice to have and option to add an alternative name (as used
in the person options) and have it linked to the current geo location.
