Mary,

To add to Jenny’s helpful reply:

A suggestion would be to enter the beginning double bracket in the Event name
without a space, following the Event Name.

Example: Living[[…]] as opposed to: Living [[…]]

When you type in the name of the event to bring it up, type a privacy bracket
immediately following the event name. If you’ve saved an ‘edited event’ with
the privacy brackets to alert you, typing the first bracket following the Event
name will bring up the edited Event. If nothing shows up beyond the name of the
event you’re wanting to use, no edited version has been saved. The privacy
brackets option is one of the best features of Legacy, in my opinion.

If you like to frequently change things around, using the same event, you can
also still use and show the fields in your event list, but by taking out the
canned sentences and just using [Notes][Sources] in the sentence definitions,
you can enter/format the information in any way you wish in the notes section,
which I tend to favor, as it reads easier in the narrative reports. Or you can
pick and choose for a specific Event, depending on the fields filled in, which
ones are free flowing and which ones are canned.

Ticking show the 3 fields will only mean they will display and show any ‘filled
in’ information in your Events list. The sentence definitions is what
determines what is printed in the reports.

Goof around until you arrive at what works best for you.

Mary

That's brilliant, Jenny! Thanks.

You could add something in privacy brackets to the Event Name so it
would be immediately obvious to you that you'd changed something, but
wouldn't print in Reports. For example Census [[Warning!]] or Education
[[Don't change again!]].
