Kathy, Someone may have already pointed this out but check Options>Customize>Data Entry>Rule for generating default marriage names and select option 1-Replace wife's surname with husband's surname as an additional entry in Index view. Then click the Apply button next to it. That will "generate" the married surnames for the Name List. The married surnames will not display after that has been done unless you also check the Name List>Options>Include Married Names. Similar logic applies to the Name List>Options>Include Alternate Names. The alternate or married names are indicated with symbols to distinguish them from the regular names. Alternate names are preceeded with a tilde. Married names are preceeded with the section sign (overlapping S).
Those same two options are displayed in the Index tab>Options and they should work the same way as the Name List. Please report back if you are still seeing otherwise. The view does change if I tick the "Include Alternate Names" and that is helpful, but I could do with the Include Married Names working as well. Can anyone please advise what I should be looking for, or what I should check to see why it's apparently not working? My column headings in Index view are from left to right RIN - Given names - Surname - Sex - Birth Date/Place - Death Date/Place - Spouse1 - Marriage: 1st, Date/Place - Spouse 2 - General Notes Thanks Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
