For what it is worth, I have three events - Birth Registration, Death Registration and Marriage Registration.
The description contains "vol xx, page yyy". The date is the last month of the Quarter (Mar, Jun, Sep or Dec) plus the year and the place is the registration district. RD locations have long name including county and country (Chelmsford registration district, Essex, England) and a short name of just the district. The event sentence might read: His birth was registered during the quarter ended Jun 1898 at the Chelmsford registration district with GRO reference vol 4a, page 123 For the date, I use the year if the registration was Jun, Sep or Dec, but "Abt Year" for March registrations.
