Tim, I might add it to Research Notes for the furthest-back Rogers ancestor, the one most likely to be connected through (sorry for the appalling grammar). And/or you could add it as a To-Do item for that same ancestor. Have you entered any of the Govern family members into your database? You could likewise, add Research Notes or To-do items there. You could even reference RIN's. In fact, I would add Govern family members, because then as you find details, you can record them in Legacy. Eventually, you would have the whole picture (or at least enough to know), and could link the appropriate individuals. With To-Do items you can set reminder dates, so they show up on your Legacy Home page when you open Legacy. I especially like the "breadcrumb" aspect, because I don't have a lot of time to spend doing research & need reminding each time I get back into it. You could add a To-Do item to a Rogers ancestor to find when & where they settled in upstate NY, and another to find evidence they came from Moynalty. Ditto a Govern ancestor. Use Research Guidance on one of them to find out where to look. (Geoff's recent webinar on Research Guidance was fantastic... but it's also pretty self-explanatory.) --Paula in Texas Researching: Adair Baker Beasley Benson Betz Bigley Blagrave Burton Chapman Clement Clough Coppernoll Costine Daulton Dinwiddie Doody Ellis Exline Field Floran Floyd Gates Goodale Gordon Gump Hale Harbaugh Hind Hopkins Hughes Hurdle Jones Klein Koyle Laswell McDonald Misner Passwaters Pelton Roberts Roche Ryburn Sanford Short Singer Sullivan Weller Williams

I was wondering where people put notes pertaining to families, not so much individuals. An example might be I have some notes about one of my Irish families that might be connected to some other families I have found in Moynalty, Meath, Ireland. Where does one record that some other family may be connected in some way, but you are not sure of the connection and you haven't proved it out yet? Right now all I have is a vague mention that the Govern family may be cousins to our Rogers family, and that both families came from Moynalty and settled in upstate NY. Nothing more specific than that. So, how do you record something that is specific to a family but not an individual in Legacy, and to be able to retrieve that information when you get more information that might help that connection? Is that some new exciting feature that will be in Legacy 8?
