Thanks, Dan,

With something as complex as merging it would be easier if you broke the
process down into stages and give baby steps details as to what you have done
and why/how it seems not to work. I do find that if I try to guess I get it
wrong as often as I am correct!

Thanks Ron

I check for updates every morning.
V8.0.0.356 yesterday currently running V8.0.0.357 build 4 Dec 13.

I had checked the Help file and Manual.
Possibly I missed something.

Dan,

Welcome aboard.

This is not the easiest of subjects, so I would ask if you have read the Help
File? Would you also specify which version of Legacy you are using, this is
most important especially just after a new release.

To find the Help (V8.0.0.356 deluxe) click Help>Help Index>Search and enter
“merge files” (no quotes) in the search box. Select “Merging Family" Files”
from the list. Whilst learning may I suggest that you make copies of your .fdb
files, particular the main one, and practice on those.

If you then are having problems please do come back to the list.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Compare Two Files

I have split the screen in Legacy 8 and accessed two similar files one has been
updated with thousands of corrections and the other one has about 800
additional names.
I would like to compare the two files and then merge/import ONLY the 800
additional names into the updated file.
Also tried the Compare Two File option.

New to Legacy.

Thanks

Dan
