It seems that Paul has already answered the question about why some addresses have "n/a" and some don't: > In the Alexandra Nursing Home record, it put the value in the Legacy 'Address > Name' field at the very top of the address screen. The 'Address' field (which > appears to be designed for a street address) is blank. > > In the 41 Carey Street example, it recognized it as a street address and put > it in the 'Address' field. Every record needs an 'Address Name', so it stuck > in n/a.
As for the more serious issue, I have found it easy to reproduce: 1. Export a GEDCOM file from RootsMagic. I ticked all the boxes so as to include Notes, Sources, LDS Information, Addresses, To-Do Tasks, Research Logs,Multimedia Links, Correspondence Log, Note formatting (bold etc) and Extra Details (RM specific) - most were selected by default, and I don't think any of the others made any difference anyway. 2. Import it into Legacy. I used the File ribbon, then Import - GEDCOM file... I tried various options, but none seemed to make any difference. 3. Examine data. I looked at two census events, one using an address where Legacy had added "n/a" and one where it hadn't. In both cases the Notes and Source attached to the event had disappeared. These sources both had details attached. I don't know how far the problem extends or what makes the data disappear: for example, the Death event at Alexandra Nursing Home still had its source attached - this one didn't have any details attached in the original. There were also no death notes in the original for this one. Also, where there isn't an address separate from the place, things appear to be correct. Ordinarily I would have been happy to continue to work through the issue with the support team, but in this case I must decline. I've put a lot of time and effort into evaluating Legacy, and even before this latest issue arose had more or less decided it wasn't going to be right for me. I have described the issues I've experienced (and Paul has made a very useful contribution), and even though I am not going to be using the program I have spent over an hour doing further investigations in order to write this reply. Time for me to call a halt, I think.
