I still use a Basic Source for GRO indexes.

I had a look at the templates suggested and they're clearly designed by
people with little to no understanding of the indexes as they have
fields for information never found in the index - like sub-district and
Registration month whereas until quite recently it should be
Registration quarter - and end up with "citing the GRO registration
index" - which is surely the name of the source.
Perhaps I'm too much of a lumper but since the GRO indexes are available
in so many places both online and offline, I don't have a separate
source for each place I can find it.

They also separate England and Wales whereas the system is the same for
both.

It may be better to use the generic online database template.

Jenny why don't you put the two names in the fields available? One name
in the Given Names field and the other preceded by & in the Surname
field resulting in "entry for John Brown & Mary Smith"?
Technically incorrect as there are two entries but anyone who knows the
source, knows that and you could note that in a comment in the Master
Source.
Perhaps the intention is that you'd put in two sources, one for each
party, as some other source is required to match the couple in the years
before the other surname is included?
