As a lumper, I do something similar to Arnold. I name them based on type,
location, and title. Works for me.

Births-IA-Births and christenings, 1830-1950 (FamilySearch)
Births-MD-Dept. of Health birth certificates
Newspapers-IL-Illinois State Journal (GenealogyBank)
US Federal Census-1850-OH-Carroll Co.
