When is it proper to use Great Britain or United Kingdom as country
designations.

Is there a specific time period when the British Isles were considered as
the United Kingdom or just Great Britain. I find that many researchers do
not separate the locations into the standard four designations, just use
three jurisdictions which does not follow genealogical standards that I
have been taught.

Can someone explain how to correctly enter locations for the United Kingdom?

Sincerely,
