I often resize the Legacy window as I resize other windows and have not seen this behaviour at all under Windows 10 or previously with Win 8.1, 7 etc.

You could, with Legacy closed, try deleting Documents\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData\usr\Legacy2.usr which holds your sizes for each Legacy window.

I’ve tried those changes to the settings in the past; Legacy continues
to spring back. In playing around with resizing the Legacy window
again this afternoon, I noticed this strange behavior. I would click
on one edge of the Legacy window and then attempt to drag that edge to
a new larger window, for example changing from ¼ screen to ½ screen.
But I would drag very slowly. After about 3 seconds of dragging and
WITHOUT me releasing the mouse button, the Legacy window would
automatically spring back to its previous position. It’s as if there
is a time limit to resize the Legacy window.

I did find a workaround for the springy resizing problem. For example,
let’s assume that the Legacy window was approximately ¼ screen and I
wanted to make it ½ screen, occupying the complete left half of the
screen. After repositioning the window into the top left corner of the
screen and then dragging the lower edge of the window down towards the
bottom of the screen, this is where the spring-back to its previous
position behavior starts. But if I only drag the lower edge down only
about 1 or 2 inches and release instead of all the way down in one
attempt, then things work normally. It may take 4 or 5 mouse drags to
finally get the window to occupy the desired ½ screen. So not only is
there a time limit for resizing but also a finite limit on the amount
of resizing. Strange. I think I’ll check other applications to see if
I can find a similar behavior.

Clipboard question

Trouble with Legacy & resize windows.

I posted this back about March. You might try it.

Microsoft in all their wisdom. created "Snap Assist" to auto arrange
windows.

Try adjusting your Windows from auto snapping your windows. If you
don't like this just redo these steps.

Windows 10 =To disable Snap Assist launch the Settings app from your
Start Menu. From the Settings window, click System. Find & click
Multitasking in the column on the left. Under the “Snap” category on
the right set choices to Off. This will disable Snap Assist in Windows
10.

Windows 7 = to stop window snapping. Open up your Control Panel, and
then go to the Ease of Access center. From there, click on “Make the
mouse easier to use”… And then remove the checkbox for “Prevent
windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of
the screen”, and then click the Apply button to actually save the setting

I have Windows 10 and find this problem occurs intermittently with a

Legacy problem.

To the lady who talked about using M8 Free Clipboard: would you mind
explaining in more detail how you use the program for sourcing. I
thought my system was working well, but now realize that I could do a
lot better if I tried the clipboard.

I recall that annoyance with resizing the Legacy window as having been
around since at least Legacy version 7. I typically use a split screen
mode with Legacy taking up ½ and a browser window on the other half.
But whenever I have to resize the Legacy window, it takes several
mouse attempts with it just springing back to its original size. In
other words, the resizing attempt does not stick until the 3^rd or
4^th attempt. Certainly not life threatening but merely annoying.
Legacy is the only application that exhibits this behavior. It has
nothing to do with Windows 10.

I've noticed when resizing Legacy with the mouse on the edge if I hold
the mouse button down after I stop sliding up or down it jumps back to
the original size. I have to release the button as soon as I stop
sliding the mouse.

I just checked my laptop and it resizes OK. I can resize and hold the
button and it stays there. Both are Win 10.

The desktop computer resizes other programs fine, Only Legacy exhibits
this problem.

Under Windows 10, when ones tries to go to a smaller window, the
process is not fluid as it is with other programs.

There is a time delay and the passage from one level to the other goes
by step.

It is the same thing with both v8 and v9.

There seems to be a sort of incompatibility between Windows 10 and Legacy.

Am I the only one to see this problem?
