Hi Cathy
Thank you for that information. At the moment I am still using Legacy 8,
but as soon as my problem is resolved I will purchase Legacy 9.
I have taken onboard what you and other Legacy users have suggested and
now seem to have solved my problem.
I clicked on Media Gallery and selected the picture frame below. I then
checked how many copies of each family member I had saved and noticed
that some of them had up to 10 of the same jpg photo. I removed all but
1 and I am now not receiving the message which told me that I had 16
missing media files.
thank you all for your help.
Cheers

Maria,
Which version of Legacy are you using?
If you go to the location mentioned you may find the relevant button
is labelled Test Media Folders. If you click it there's a checkbox to
get a list of the media files that can't be found.
Then you can find and relink them manually.
This is necessary if you have renamed the files outside of Legacy.
Otherwise the Media Relinker may help you.
However, the problem may be that the combined path and filename are
too long. This is likely to occur if you have many levels of
sub-folders, especially if you start from ...\Documents\Legacy Family
Tree\Meda\ folder as this is already several layers deep unless you
have moved your Documents folder out of the User folders.
If you do move it, you have to do it properly using the Properties
screen for My Documents, Location tab
The latest update to Legacy 8 - build 601 and to Legacy 9 include a
check for media filenames (path plus the actual name) tat are too
long. See File - File Maintenance - Check/Repair.
Correct this and after re-linking you may have no further problem.

Hi at Legacy
Yes I would like to subscribe to this list as at the moment I have an
ongoing media problem within Legacy. I hope that someone within the
group could help me solve it.
My question is: I have been trying to attach family photos to each of
the people in my tree. Some have worked successfully, but others have
not and I continually receive the message listed below when backing up
after each session that I have 10 or more missing media files. I have
followed the instructions listed below, but i'm still not able to
solve the problem.
Is there a webinar that I could watch? Or a step by step way of
learning how to in stall these photos.
I would be very grateful if someone within the group could help me
solve this problem.
Cheers
Maria
