The list I have created started with me. If I know that the person is related to a certain section of the family can I change the start up person instead of myself ?

For now you Set Relationships to the right person at Tools - Set Relationships then go to Reports - Other Reports - Relationship Report and create as a csv. Open in a spreadsheet and then sort the relationship column.
