Hello Chris,

If all else fails... one trick I've used for a few things like this is to generate a gedcom of your database. Obviously for this time you need to include graphic links. Then open the gedcom with a text editor and do a Search for part of the filename. The line with that filename will begin with a number, and the lines immediately above it with a lower number will indicate the item that's linked to the filename.

This trick also comes in handy when searching for specific text that you know exists somewhere in a Legacy file.

Hope this helps.

Cheers! -- Dave N.

All,

I'm trying to sort out the mess I have created over the years with media files :-) and have got to the point where, when I remove a file which is duplicated, I end up with a message like this from the Media Relinker

Missing Media Files in: C:\Users\Chris\Documents\Legacy Family Tree\Data\SWANN-ELSBURY.fdb

Media File: Name: Source Detail: Joseph Edgar SWANN [3841]
   C:\Users\Chris\Documents\Legacy Family Tree\Media\SWANN Media\Electoral Roll\UK\London England Electoral Registers 18471965(50).jpg

which  makes perfect sense - I have moved/renamed a file and the link in the system is no longer valid

MOST of the time I am able to find the error pointed to without any problem and make the appropriate changes. However, this particular file is defying all attempts to locate the offending data and resolve the issue.

I have tried the Media Gallery and every individual event, all to no avail. I know that the file refers to an event in 1959 and have found in the Event for this the correct file - but cannot find the "error" file anywhere !!

Does anyone have a method they use in circumstances like this to resolve the issue ?

While making the latest batch of changes I renamed/moved three duplicated files and found and fixed the other 2 within seconds !!

Thanks in advance,

Chris Swann
