The standard family model up until just recently included a male and female
and their natural or adopted children. When the first computerized genealogy
programs were developed, the same sex couple with adopted children was not a
public concern. I can't speak for the Legacy developers, but I suspect they
had no reason to go beyond the normal family model. It is only recently that
any concern has been expressed for this. I have been monitoring some of the
genealogy program Email groups for over 2 years, and this is the first
mention I have seen of same sex couples. Thus, it is only now that the
Legacy developers need to decide how to handle this problem.
