Hi, Fred - Thanks for answering. I'm not sure whether I have described this
problem correctly. My son - not available right now, so I don't have his
input - loaded my old PAF data into Legacy from an 8-year-old backup on an
old computer because the floppy disks I had saved the data on became
corrupted over time. Everything has transferred just fine, including the
notes, and I'm pleased about that. I'd just like to be able to SEE the notes
on the screen so that I don't have to keep opening and closing that screen
and don't have to remember all the stuff I'm supposed to be typing into the
Sources! My son also put my data into a Sierra "Generations" program and a
Family Treemaker program I was testing/comparing, so those are available to
me on my computer, but I can't find the original PAF program, even though I
know it must be there! Now the problem comes with trying to get Legacy to
open up a split screen with either of these programs on one side. When I
choose "View - Split Screen" it splits just fine and first displays the
Legacy file on both sides, then gives me the question "Do you want to open
another Family File in the window?" When I choose "Yes," it goes to the
small screen showing what to choose to open. But no matter what I choose, it
leaves the same Legacy information screen on both sides of my screen. I'm
not sure whether this will eventually cause problems for me when I'm trying
to merge files from other people or not. But at least for the moment, your
suggestion to run both programs simultaneously on a small screen -
"minimized," I guess - is working. I have Generations (with my PAF notes) up
on one side and Legacy on the other side, and can view and move within each
of the two without problems. Works great! Thanks very much... Kathi
