Carolyn,
This may be a solution to your puzzle. When you were typing surnames into
the data, perhaps you inadvertently typed a full stop after the surname of
some individuals. Then with the "auto-complete" feature of Legacy in action,
when you entered another new person, who had the same surname as the
individual with the full stop, Legacy filled in the name without any further
typing from you. And of course, it had the "full stop" which you probably
didn't notice. What I suggest you do is you run VIEW|MASTER LISTS|SURNAMES.
Then scan down the list and see who has "full stops" after their name. Also
check to see if you do have a repeat of the same surname WITHOUT the
fullstop. If there are "full stops" showing after names in this listing,
they can only have got there by typing. This list makes no distinction
between living and dead, the simple reason being that there would be people
with some of the names who would be in both categories. As you said, there
is no where in the "Help File" that such a feature is listed as being a
method of indicating the "living".

Dear All,

No one has mentioned this, and I can't find anything in the book, but on
some of
my screen a . appears behind the wife. or the husband. , not necessarily
both
wife and husband, but sometimes, and I have not been able to figure out if
it
means something, or is a flaw in the program. Can anyone tell me? I've
been able
to figure out most things, <until I find the next one> <bg> Thanks all.

God bless.

Carolyn,
