At the risk of being off topic, I've been floundering for many
weeks trying to find the bug affecting my scanner. Yesterday,
following tenuous clues, I reloaded MS Word 2000. That made minor
changes in scanner performance BUT removed problems in booting
the system and in monitor performance. It changed behavior of
ClipMate. Conclusion: Bugs in the behavior of one program may be
the result of something wrong with another program entirely.
Having just read an article on how .DLLs are treated by Windows,
it seems likely to me that adding and/or deleting applications of
any kind, small or large, can affect the behavior of programs
that previously were rock solid. I can't suggest anything except
when at wits end, try reloading.

After reading that article on .DLLs, I'm amazed that anything
works under Windows. :^)..
