I have just had the same problem with going from CD Writer to regular CD players but now some of the software, CD Creator 5.0, will add a program to the freshly written CD that may be able to let regular CD player read it.  I say it "may" read it because the newer CD players usually include being able to read CD-RW discs.  Older CD's may not.  I don't know if this is your problem though.  It may just be a problem of locating the file.

If you created the backup on a CDRW (Read/Write), your regular CD drive will not read it. But if you will put the CDRW back in the drive where it was created, it should work OK.
If you created the backup on a CDR and it dowsn't work in the regular CD drive, then, most probably, the data transfer to the CD was not completed.
