Kay, et. al. -- the issue of one or two spaces following a period or colon
is, as has been suggested, at least partially a function of font and
program. For those of us who are typewriter-trainees and who occasionally
continue to utilize non-proportional fonts in a txt format, it takes lots
more time and concentration to unlearn the 'proper' way of punctuating. If
the proportions don't look right one can use search and replace upon
generating a "final." Also, the ability to select and change font is very
useful but not all fonts, even those presumed proportional look "right" with
only one keystroke space after a period.
Scott Carlton -- (still using two spaces, thank you)

Brant,
Yes times (and equipment) have changed. Every once in a while I forget and
insert 2 spaces after a colon. My Microsoft grammar checker marks it as a
punctuation error.
