Laury,

If I am reading you correctly your answer is; Options | Customize | General,
Displaying Surnames and check or uncheck the box you desire. Hope this
helps.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Run Time Error causes corrupted names & question on
how to enter same-sex couples

Hi, again,

I have a couple more questions that I hope someone will be kind enough
to try to answer for me.

Problem 1:

I was working on my file tonight and received yet another run time error
(and I foolishly didn't write this one down; I just closed the file and
rebooted) and now all my surnames are altered and have forward slashes
in them, ie /WALKEY/. The slashes don't show up in Edit individual
mode, but in Family View, in the Name List and on some reports, I get
the forward slashes. I cannot remove them from the names when I go in
to edit mode because they don't show up in the surnames. All my backups
have the same problem. Is there any way I can remove these slashes so
they don't show up in my file? And am I doing something wrong to keep
getting all these Run Time errors? I'm only using the one application
when I'm working on my file, though I do have several others in the
background.

Problem 2:

I don't know if this has been covered before (sorry if it has!), but I
was curious how I can enter a same-sex couple into my database. The
individual in question is male, had married and had two children with
his wife and then divorced her and entered into a same-sex
relationship. I had him and his partner entered as male partners in
FTM, but Legacy has converted the partner to female and I would like to
keep it as male, with the label of "Partner" instead of "Wife". I've
changed the labels already, but I can't override the male/female
setting. Is it possible to change this or will I have to make a note in
the file somewhere to explain that the software cannot accept same-sex
relationships?

Cheers,
