A little history about why we offered a free version 4.0 to those who
already owned version 3.0.

Legacy 3.0 was released in March of 2000 and at that time we were working
hard on a new version 4.0. In December of 2000 we decided to start giving
Legacy away for free and to sell a Deluxe Edition. As I look back on it now
we probably should have incremented the version to 4.0 back in December of
last year but we just didn't feel good about calling it version 4.0 because
we had only added about half of the features we had planned on adding to it.
These new features that were to be in 4.0 became the features that are in
the current 3.0 Deluxe Edition.

We didn't want to release a new version so quickly and charge people to
upgrade to a new version 4.0. For all of those users who did upgrade to
version 3.0 we felt kind of bad charging them once again for the upgrade to
the Deluxe Edition. To keep things fair we offered a free version 4.0 to
those who would purchase the 3.0 Deluxe Edition. We could have given a free
Deluxe Edition to everyone who had already paid for version 3.0 (this would
have been fair) and then charged them for an upgrade to the new 4.0 when it
is released. But, we needed the money and thought our offer to give them a
free version 4.0 when it's ready if they would purchase the 3.0 Deluxe
Edition would keep things fair and still help us finance the development of
version 4.0.

We really appreciate all of you who did take advantage of that offer and we
are working hard to get 4.0 released soon. We are sorry it's taken so long.

For all of you new Legacy users who joined us since December of last year we
appreciate your support. We would hope that you don't feel cheated when you
hear about others who are qualified for a free copy of 4.0 when it's
released.

Thanks
