This is from a mail message I just received. You should be on the look-out for this virus. It is not currently over taking the internet but the potential exists due to the Holiday season and the title of the attachment. The message is sent with a Subject Line of Happy New Year, and has a Christmas.exe attachment. The major virus vendors are reporting it, and have not released any new signature files . The other major AntiVirus sites are reporting it as W32. Reeezak.A@mm and W32/Maldal@mm. Please notify clients and users NOT to open any Attachment that is identified as Christmas.exe. This should not effect Lotus Notes but as you see it does effect MSN Messenger and, of course, Outlook.
The following information is from. http:[EMAIL PROTECTED] W32.Reeezak.A@mm is a mass-mailing worm that uses Microsoft Outlook and MSN Messenger. The worm will have the following characteristics: Subject: Hii Body: I can't describe my feelings But all i can say is Happy New Year :) bye Attachment: Christmas.exe In addition, the worm modifies the Internet Explorer start page to a malicious homepage. This webpage uses an Internet Explorer exploit to create a VBScript file on the system which then spreads itself via network shares and mIRC. The script file also attempts to delete common antivirus products.
