Hello Charles,
I am Martha Schmidt, corresponding secretary for the
Humboldt County Genealogy Society. Your e-mail was place in
the Genie mail box. We are slowing moving into the
technology age.
We charge $5.00 for a query. That includes checking all of
the resources available at the Public Library (histories,
federal and state censuses, cemetery records): looking for
records at the Court House; checking with local people who
may have some knowledge of family information; finding
church records if possible. We do anything we can to find
what you want. Well, almost anything! We do not charge by
the hour as we are volunteers, and much of the information
does not have an index yet. If there would be a great amount
of information to be copied, we ask for copying costs.
Uncertified copies from the Court House are $5 each. We
can ask for those copies. Certified copies are $10 and need
to be requested from the Recorder's Office by you. The
Genealogy Society can not do that.
