I am an untrained computer user, I am selftaught. I need some guidance on
how best to do this. If someone could explain step by step I would greatly
appreciate it.

Ruth,

What I would do is this:

1. First get the new computer ready and going. No errors on scan disk or
anything. No driver errors for the printer, scanner, camera, Palm, etc.
2. Install Legacy.
3. Go back to your old computer. Make a backup of Legacy, and save it on a
the hard drive.

From here, you could go in four directions.

IF you have a CD burner on the old computer, copy the backup of Legacy onto
a CD and just put the CD on the new machine. Copy the backup to the Legacy
backup folder. Then restore the backup.

IF the backup file will fit on a single floppy, copy the backup of Legacy
onto a CD and just put the CD on the new machine. Copy the backup to the
Legacy backup folder. Then restore the backup.

IF the backup file is too large for a single floppy, use a program to copy
the backup file across several diskettes. Don't forget to number your disks!

OR (this is what I did), get on your old computer. Send yourself an email
with the Legacy backup file attached to it. After sending it, get off line
ASAP. Go to your new computer, and get online. Download your email. In this
case, you have transferred you data from the old computer to the new one
without the use of CD or floppies.

I would recommend that you do NOT dispose of the old computer until you are
satisfied with the data transfer. If you have problems, let us know.
Someone can help you.

Robert
