Still working one this... If you have an event called [[Occupation]] and
place "Teacher" in the Description, it shows up okay on the Family View, but
it also shows in the Chronology, although not in the reports. This makes it
a duplication in the Chronology... Kathi

Sorry, William, I guess I missed the suggestion to make a second occupation
field. Yes, that sounds like it might work. Don't know if I want to go to
all that trouble to transfer occupations for 6000 or so people, although it
might solve the other problem of naming more than one occupation at a time
on the Family View and Index View screens, yet still getting the notes and
dates to show up separately in the Chronology and in reports. I'll have to
mull this over... Kathi

Kathi --
Apparently my last did not make it to the list.

You can bracket the Event name [[Occupation]] and change the Event title to
read Trade, so what you get is:

Trade [: shoemaker, bookbinder, tanner]

(with the brackets indicating the field) No way around the colon, but you
should have plenty of room for words. I would create a second event [[OCC]]
just for this so you can string as many jobs as you can (as above) for a
person, rather than have to use just the first Occupation Event in the list.

I see no re-setting of the Event name on close/re-open if I have saved the
change.

Okay, what do you mean by "after you have chosen the value that was saved"?
If I choose to leave the Event word blank, the word "Event" is, as I said
before, reset every time you close or save. If I place something like "Occ"
in the blank, it prints out as "Occ Occupation," which is wrong/redundant. I
can choose to put a period in the blank, but then I'm still left with
nothing in the field name except the period and with the word Occupation in
the blank where only the occupation names should be, i.e. taking up valuable
space, like I said. I don't see any way to get the word Occupation to move
over to the field name... Kathi

I tried it and it doesn't reset itself after you have chosen the value that
was saved.
If you can handle a cryptic event name, just rename the occupation event to
"." or something else.
