Herb...
As far as I am concerned, someone named, say, Walkabout Jones married Susie
Sayitagain Smith ... he didn't marry Susie Sayitagain Jones. The change of
name only became a function of their marriage... so AFTER the marriage
Walkabout WAS MARRIED TO Susie Sayitagain ... both now sharing the surname
JONES.

Of course, there are numerous instances in which a person with the surname
JONES might, indeed, have married another person with the surname JONES...
and that's always a challenge to work through.

Just my thoughts...

Subject: [LegacyUG] Handling Maiden/Married Names

I am a new user and am not sure what the optimal strategy is for handling
maiden and married names in Legacy.

In the last name field is it better to put:

1. Maiden name: Smith
2. Married name: Jones
3. Married ne Maiden: Jones ne Smith

... and why.

I saw a message in the archive saying to used maiden name only and put
married as an AKA. But the person didn't saw why that should be done.
Personally option 3 above seems most transparent.
