Pat, I haven't had any problem with entering data into notes of any kind. I'm not sure how "large" your definition of "large" is, but I've been entering a lot of census data in event notes lately. Are you seeing this only in Legacy??
As for the paths under the Launch tab, according to the Legacy help file (found by clicking on the help button at the bottom of that page) "Legacy offers to start your web browser, word processor, or text editor to view web pages or reports that you have generated. Normally, the default program for your computer is used. You can override these settings and use a different program to view the results by filling in one or more of the program fields. Most screens in Legacy have a help button which will take you right to help about the particular options on that screen!
