Donna, This option is used to tag individual that have been merged and not to tag the duplicate before they get merge.
>From the help file... Tag Duplicates Select this option if you want the remaining individual of each merged pair tagged with a specified tag number. This would then let you later display a Search List of all the merged people by showing just the individuals tagged with that number.
