The Illegitimate part of it is the father (and often his family or the sosiety) who don't accept the relationship. The lack of honour in sosiety.
I have some Illegitimates among my relatives. Back in 1500 and about 1410. In Norway they sometimes are called "Frillebarn" = Child of Misstress. And they had the right to Heritage as Natural born children, if they were "Lyst i kuld og kjnn", which means something like this: The child was declaired to be of his blood and among his children. This was during the Chatolic period in Norway, showing that in some ways the old Norwegian laws was superior to the Church laws. In Sweden it was different f.e. The "Celibacy" wasn't a hard part of the Norwegian Church before early 1300, and wasn't stressed hard after that either, due to the fact that some priest having schildren gave heritage to their children, which they shouldn't due to Church laws, saying that herritage after priest had to go to the Church. So in Europe the Ilegitimatcy problem is a produck of Luther, Victorianism and the religious purists.
