A certain amount of editing can be done using a good text editor like UltraEdit that will do multi file search & replace of both characters and regular expressions. Most pages, however, require personal tweaking. I found the most efficient way is to tag all those with events, in the main family file, do a search for them, and then export the search list to a new family file (this gets only the tagged folks -- no parents or siblings). Then I generate a set of Individual format web pages for the new file. This gives me pages with the correct event structure (more or less) that I can cut and past to the Pedigree pages using a split screen in UltraEdit, adding in images and hyperlinks at the same time. It also gives me a secondary, event-based name list that I can use on the site after changing the hyperlinks to the correct pages. It isn't hard, but with a basic list of about 2000 individuals, just time consuming.
Wm Voss --- snip --- Have you considered using some programmable text processing program on the output from Legacy? This certainly would be no substitute for improvements within Legacy, but you might be able to automate most or all of your manual work. On Unix systems, programs such as sed and awk could be used. There are also versions of them that run under DOS. -- Dennis Nichols [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe please visit: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group Etiquette guidelines can be found at: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp To unsubscribe please visit: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp Legacy User Group Etiquette guidelines can be found at: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp
