Oops, you're right Wim! Well, then. The correct way to do a backup is to go to File > Backup Family File. Select a name for the file (usually the same as the name of the Family File that you're backing up - at least until you come up with a "system" of your own) and then click on Save and let Legacy do the work.
Always test your backup after creating it to make sure there's no problem with it (see website below) and your backup is safer if copied to floppy disk or CD-R rather than just leaving it on the hard drive.
