Thanks!  Works a treat.

Yes I think it belongs here since it is how to use Legacy with other programs.

How to access the database with OpenOffice.

1) COPY the LEGACY DATA BASE TO a NEW directory!!!!!!!!
2) Check that the version of OpenOffice (OO) is at least 1.1
3) Read the instructions on this link for how to add a datasource.
http://dba.openoffice.org/FAQ/FAQ.html#msaccess
Check that you have the MDAC installed
I have copied the data base to c:\Temp\Test\Westberg.fdb so my data source URL look like this.
PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;DATA SOURCE=c:\Temp\Test\Westberg.fdb
4) Start OO spreadshit.
5) Open tools->datasources
6) Click on New Datasource
7) Set the databsetype to ADO
8) Edit the datasource URL to something similar to my in 3.
9) Click on Apply
10) you can no look at the table definitions in tables tab
11) Click on ok.
12) Go to View -> datasources
13) Select the datasource and expand the tables.
14) Have fun and do not blame me if you can read back the database in Legacy.

Hi.

I just want ro report that it is possible to access the legacy database from the free OpenOffice1.1. No need to buy access.

With openoffice it is easy to import a table to the spreadsheet.
