G'day from Down Under Peter

I went through the exact same process. It appears that it's the only way to
go :( but I think you'll find you've made the right decision to change to
Legacy.

FTM in my opinion is a very restricted program when it comes to recording
sources, addresses etc. It also puts the photos into the actual data file
which makes the file VERY large.

All the best

Ian

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Converting to Legacy from Family tree maker

| Hi Dennis,
|
| I just recently converted from FTM to Legacy. Probably did it the hard way
| but here is what I did.
| If FTM exported my database as a GEDCOM file
| In Legacy I used the File | Import from menu to import the GEDCOM. file
|
| Here's the kicker - the pictures in FTM do not get exported.
|
| Using Windows Explorer I copied all my FTM pictures to the Legacy Picture
| File and then proceeded to add them to the appropriate individual/event.
|
| Hopefully someone on this list will provide a faster way to accomplish the
| task.
