Do you really want to do it? You should have a laaaaaarge base to find it convinient.
But here is how it's done:
0. Make a copy of your original Family file with a new name (A and B)
1. Find all common ancestors. Note their RINs and unlink from one part of the file. (In B)
2. Open two new files for each line.(C and D)
3. Open B and View/Split screen. When promted say Yes and open the new C.
4. Find the male and lift him from B to the empty Male place in C. Read the prompted choises carefull to take the right choise.
Do the same with female from B to D.
5. Open C and D insplit screen and Go to the unlinked RINs from 1 and copy the persons from C to D with their anscestors.
Once more, do you really want to do it. Anyhow, keep your original file A untouched with proper backup

Sorry. I sent my earlier query in Rich-Text format. I'm repeating my question here in Plain-Text.
I need to split my husband's family from my own, in Legacy 5.0 Deluxe. How
can I unlink myself from my husband, create a new family file for each of
our families, title them, yet still retain the complete family file, without
having to re-enter the mounds of data involved?
I appreciate your help! Marsha
