I have been using Treepad for a couple years now. I use it for everything except genealogy. I guess I never thought of it for that use - duh!

It will be perfect working along side Legacy.

Funny no one has mentioned TreePad yet.  Try the freebie first, if
you like; it's good for plain text.  Build your own hierarchy,
like "chapters" with as many "subsections" and "pages" as you like
in each.  The Pro version holds pictures, clickable URLs,
cross-ref links, color coding etc.  For the basics, the learning
curve is not steep.  The help chapter is built like your own will
be, giving a good illustration of the possibilities.  Some of my
main headings are, for example:  RAOGK work, Legacy translation,
Info about censuses, Info about locations, Surnames etc.  The
program seems very stable indeed.
