I thought I'd put us a new subject here, but really am picking up on
something I've been trying to say for a long time.

I can't think of a single new "feature" I need from Legacy.

But we do need a *real* database function-set, which would accomodate...
* full column sorting in Index View
* the option in Index view to see either "All" or our "Find" results - just
one tab
* the ability to enter/edit data on both Index and Family Views - if we can
see the data, why pop more windows to edit it?
* eliminate the stacks of windows that come one atop the other for almost
any activity.
* thanks for new PicCenter, but it needn't be so clumsy and glitchy to use!
At least Legacy got that all in one place (no popup windows) but it takes a
lot of mousing all over the screen to accomplish a simple task. Even just
relocating buttons would help greatly.
* webpage output that can accommodate borders and other mods before
uploading
* if Legacy were to make a *real* database of itself, then
^ data would exchange or merge with any database application,
^ a user could easily design his/her own special needs, for middlenames,
farmnames, whatever.
^ a census input sheet would become unnecessary - simple drag-in or
link-to the census spreadsheet (perhaps with attached images, why not?) John
Boyle, myself & others already have and use.
^ text-formatting, styles and such are all available.
^ it's also an end to the proprietary transfer issues with e.g. AKA's &
Location Coordinates.
^ in the end, one could actually turn to using any decent database app
of choice to run the whole shebang, even uploading it and using MySQL or
other back-end or interface to serve the data in whatever format(s) might
please.
* I know nothing about MSaccess, but I'm hearing rumbles all the time that
it is slow and ranks low on the totem-pole. Maybe Legacy should be built
with some other DBMS -- I'm not "up" on that -- yet!

I also hope Legacy never again puts out a new release before it's time --
that is straight out of Bill Gate's book - more trinkets, more glitches. It
should be "back to basics", get it clean and powerful first.

I like Legacy best by far, and you folks know I have been checking out the
others! Plus Legacy has the absolute best in staff support I have seen
since Windoze. That still doesn't mean I like where they seem to be
heading! Legacy could be soooooooo great!

And I've been waiting only since v.4.

Boy do I ever agree with that. I have been wanting that for - well since
Legacy 2.
