Jim, You can "sort" an event in any position chronologically without having to enter a date at all--even one to sort on.
On the Individual's Information screen just below the button where you Add or Edit an event, there is an Up arrow and a Down arrow, fight beside the words "Set Order". Use those arrows to put an event anywhere you want it to show chronologically or otherwise.
