Hi Sherry,
Thanks for the response - I've been away and just got to check your suggestions.
Yes - the locations have gone completely from the master location list. I also checked the underlying tables in Access and can't see them either. I did a check/repair, and a re-export with no improvement. Although I don't believe I deleted them directly, as I haven't deleted any locations that I recall, it is possible that I combined them in the "wrong direction", though don't see how this would break the links to the individuals concerned. Seeing no-one else has reported this problem, I'd put it down to my clumsiness.
Of more concern is that I cannot import the locations from a backup file. Sounds like others are having this problem. I tried adding a new location to the backup, and tagging it. Selected Import.. from the Locations master list, checked Location List and Tagged Only and clicked Import Lists. It appeared to work, but the two tagged locations did not appear in the Master Location list or in tblLR in Access.
For now I'll copy and paste. Happy to provide "before and after" files to help troubleshooting if required.
Thanks,
Rob Weiss

Subject: RE: [LegacyUG] Problem Importing "Lost" Locations
Rob,
Is it completely gone from the Master Location List?
Did you try a File > File Maintenance > Check/Repair? Another thing to try, if that doesn't help, is to export to a new Family File (File > Export to... > Legacy File)
Thanks for using Legacy.

Sherry or Dave, I mysteriously "lost" at least one location from my location list. This was in use by half a dozen events, and included many notes etc. It is possible that I accidentally deleted the location, though I doubt this. I have not consciously deleted any locations, as far as I recall, and this was a fairly
fundamental location. However, I have used the Purge Unused Locations option
on several occasions previously.
I tried to import the missing location (plus another one) from a backup family file but although this appeared to work without error, the two locations do not appear to have been imported. I used the Import Lists dialogue, with Location List and Tagged Only checked. I also tried creating
a new location in the backup file, tagging this only and importing it. It also did not appear to be imported. Could they exist but not be visible? I tried a Check/Repair database before the import. I also had problems with corrupted preposition fields, as previously reported.
I'm On V5 Deluxe, Build 161
Would be grateful of any suggestions to fix. Thanks, Rob
