Cathy and Rob, many tks for help. Unfortunately Rob they didn't stay open
once the programme had been closed down.

Cathy, I did delete whatever column it was this time. In the index view it
seemed to always be the second column but I haven't used the descendant's
view enough to figure it out, although it wasn't the second one but a
different column. Deleting the offending column and then putting it back in
SEEMS to have done the trick. I have opened and closed Legacy a few times
and they have stayed as they should. I couldn't get the mouse in there to
pull it to the right without taking a very long time and a lot of patience
and steadiness which I don't have - steadiness that is; patience I have!
Here's hoping and thks. I have put up with it for sooooo long!!
