Bob, Please see my responses below *** Thanks, --Paula
***I think this is true because there are so many facts for both Individuals and Marriages for which you can enter a Location.Even if the Show List is changed so that the names are clickable, it would still require a whole lot of clicking if there are more than a few items in the list.
***I think the Show List display for Locations, Sources, etc., window always results in a list of Individuals. (maybe Marriages, too?)I'd like to propose that the existing Show List display window be replaced when the result is a list of individuals.
Then when a user clicks on the
Show List button, it should respond as if the user had instead clicked on***For the particular search attempted by the originator of this thread (Loni), you cannot use the Detailed Search -- "Location" is not in the "Where to look" drop-down list, just specific "Place" fields. I think that means the only current Search on Location is in the Location List, as described by Cathy.
Search, Detailed Search, Create List with the appropriate criteria entered.
That would open a Search List with all of the items already in an easily***The Search List display window is the same as the Name List display window. And I think you would still need to search through each Individual's data to find where the Location(s) in question were used (which events).
usable maintenance mode without having to click on each person in the list.
***This list actually shows which Events use the Location(s)--what I think Loni was looking for. What would be really be beneficial is for that to be an interactive list, rather than a report. Click on the event and edit it. But I guess it really depends on what you are trying to DO. Report names? Edit data? You can do this now. Tag the location(s) concerned and either in the Master Location List go to Options > Print > Location Report OR from main views go to Reports > Other - Location Report.
Choose your options and print or preview the list.
***This works for me... in fact, I had been cycling through the tagged group--I will use the Name List next time! Thanks Cathy!
The current workaround is to tag the list of people on an unused tag and then either open that tagged group in the Name List OR cycle through the tagged group using the tag arrows at the bottom left of screen.

Recently I used the view location master list. I clicked on the show list and had lots of people show up. The only problem was there were no dates or events tied to the people. It was unknown if they were born, married or died at that location. Are there any plans to add this data so this tool will be more useful.
It would also be useful to be able to click on the individual and have the edit screen come up.
Thanks, Loni
