Alice, I would check whether you have inadvertently made changes to your report settings. I've only checked out Descendant Narrative options, but under Report Options > Format you will see "Suppress details for living people" with a sub-option "Change name to Living". It also has the option to include Private individuals. If any of these are ticked it would explain why you are getting people called "Living" in your report. I would then check the people who are coming up as "Private" to make sure that you haven't inadvertently ticked the "Private" box on their individual information screen. I just tried Advanced Set Living on a dummy database, and by having the above options ticked was the only way I could get people to be reported as being called "Living" and or "Private". I certainly didn't happen just because I used Advanced Set Living. I removed known and / or estimated birth dates for some people born more than 120 years ago before I applied Advanced Set Living - and it all behaved as I would have expected. In fact, where I had no birth date, but DID have a death or burial date the option to change the "Living" setting was greyed out. This was true even if I only included a burial location with no dates. and no date of death. I am using October 26 build. Cheers Jan

I am not aware that Advanced Set Living changes names to "Private" or puts "Still living" in Notes. I'd be interested in seeing the steps it takes to duplicate this behavior. -- Dennis M.
