Hi
I want to do a gedcom, with only 5 generations so my file it not too big,
and I do not give away all my information at first glance. Is this possible. I need to be able to include my own side of the family and also my husbands which is also included in the file.
Thanks for any help

Gwen,

You'll want to use a Focus Group for this. When you choose to export a gedcom, choose Record Selection, then Selected records in Focus Group. In the Focus Group screen, you choose Add an Individual and Ancestors. On the next screen, select the current individual (if you have a child, choose him as this will then encompass both you & your husband's line; otherwise choose yourself), change Number of Generations to 5, and then select who you want to include. You'll want to repeat the step using your husband as the current individual as well (if you've used yourself in the first step). This now sets the focus group to you & your husband, and 5 generations of ancestors.

I hope this wasn't too muddled of an explanation.

Kind regards,
