Dee, When you open a gedcom in a text editor or word processor, you see all the gedcom tags and information that's included in the gedcom file. To the average user, it doesn't make any sense until you learn how to "read" a gedcom! You'll still need to go to the gedcom primer site that I listed below for you to be able to make any sense out of it.
