Perhaps some how you gave the impression that there was a spouse?  This 
does happen, at least to me, and all you need to do is right click the 
name and "unlink from spouse".

I just encountered the same problem. He died at age 5 and Legacy 
reports say
"spouse unknown."

Recently, I seem to be entering lots of individuals who died as 
infants or
between 1-15 or so who died from various childhood diseases. I am 
aware
that
in the "Customize" area you can choose the "Data Entry" menu and 
specify
dates for "Presumed Dead".  But I haven't been able to find any area 
to
customize the ages for presuming an individual never married. Any 
thoughts
on this?
