I like the comments about inaccurate certificates. This thread is dealing with Death Certificates, but don't forget that others can be wrong, too.
My Birth Certificate shows I was born to two people who (1) never even knew each other (in any sense that you want to use the term "knew") before I was born, (2) shows the mother as having been given certain medications that were not even available at the time of my birth, and (3) is signed by the "attending physician"... who was still in pre-med school when I was born. Hmmmmmm Nothing on that Birth Certificate says anything about me being adopted by the two people shown as Mother and Father (they having met a few years after my birth and having gotten married before the adoption took place.) So, you see, not all that is "certified" to is entirely correct.
