Hi Carolyn,
You have a much more complicated situation than at first appeared.

You can change the Master Source and choose the Save to a NEW copy. If you end up with a lot of 1901 Master Sources that should all be the same one, you can combine them in the Master Source List.

The alternative (and you may find this less confusing) is to
1. Add 1901 Canadian Census as a source
2. Copy the source detail from the 1881 wrong source to the 1901 source, source detail
3. Remove the 1881 wrong source. (when in Individual Assigned Sources page, using the Remove button doesn't delete the Master Source. It just removes it from this individual)

If you haven't put in Source Detail then this is also the way to go.
Add the right source
Remove the wrong source

As Robert said, using Show List in the Master Source list for the 1881 census will give you a list of the people you need to check. You can tag the list and then remove the tag when you've checked.

Cheers,
Cathy

I'm sorry guys, but I'm confused. I think I understand it, but then I have
doubts. First let me thank Chap and Robert for their knowledgable answers.
Secondly, I don't know who I've sourced wrong until I happen to "fall" over
it. See, I'm not confused. <BG>

Somehow I have sourced the 1901 Canadian Census as 1881. I can't just edit
the wrong one and 'save changes to ALL references of this master source"
because I do have 1881 sources, can I??. If I edit the 1881 (incorrect
source attached to 1901) , change it to 1901, and apply changes to a NEW
copy of this master source, then I'll end up with many 1901 sources. Am I
making any sense. If not I'll try to be a bit clearer.

Thanks again,

Carolyn
