Hi Everyone, In regards to the "duplex" options, it applies to those of us who have the duplex attachments on our laser printers. If you do not have this piece of equipment - then you are not able to "duplex". Instead, you are literally doing a "manual" duplex, if you will, by printing say the odd pages first; then flipping them over and printing the even pages.
If you do a lot of printing, it would be wise to invest in such equipment. When the duplex equipment is attached to your printer and you select it, Legacy and the Windows operating system send the correct codes to the printer and it's PCL (printer control language) take care of the rest. Just to repeat, a majority of you will be doing the "manual duplex" functions because you do not have the duplex attachment - so please just ignore those options. Oh, and FYI, most of your printing places, such as KINKO's, do not have personnel that understand this either; so you will see them also printing all of your odd pages and then flipping it and printing the even pages for the first copy. Then they can put it in the copier and do 2 sided to 2 sided afterwards. If I have confused you more, please email me directly and I will try and explain it more clearly. Happy printing!!! I can't see what the Duplex: single sided - double sided - don't set options in the report options actually does. I would like to print double sided paper, which is what I understand by duplex printing. But what are these options? they're not in the help file, that I can see. When printing double sided, one wants a wider binding margin on alternate pages, but whatever I do it always appears on the left if I have set it up that way. Also, the order of the inbuilt print setup is: title - report - contents - index, with the contents appearing after the report rather than before. Is that for a reason I haven't understood? Warm regards ;-) Alastair From: "Barb Mann" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Re :Printing reports Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2005 20:31:19 +1100 Reply-To: [email protected] Hi Alastair, I finally printed my 280 page book it looks fantastic. Thank You to LEGACY programmers. I did what I said I would do in a previous email 19/1/05, except I printed out all the odd pages up to the Source,Index and Location pages. I did not include these yet. I printed them out last as I like the Table of contents in the front of the book. I then had to close my report and changed the margin in the (Report Options- Page Setup) so I could print the even pages on the back. Only doing 10 pages at a time in case something unforseen happend. Once I set the margin for the back of the page I could have printed the lot, but you risk your printer picking up an extra page, so doing ten at once did not take very long. All went perfectly well, each person I had photos for, had at least three or four photos next to their names, as I put the photos in their events. Cheers, from a happy, Barbara. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alastair Lack" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Legacy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2005 8:32 AM Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Re :Printing reports > Barb, > > Thanks very much for those ideas about a workaround, which I'll have a good > look at. > > I'm using a Laserjet, and as Elizabeth said, you can't reliably turn a stack > of pages over in those. > > So I simply put the TV on, and fed the pages one at a time, turning them > individually.
