Hi,

I'm new to this list so hope I'm not stepping on any toes by talking about
features of other programs that I feel can be helpful in conjunction with
Legacy.

I'm using both Legacy and Family Tree Maker at present. Wish I could only
use one but find that I get features I want in both. My preferred program is

Legacy but customized reports are one of the reasons I use Family Tree
Maker. It has a customized report feature that lets you make just about any
kind of printout you want. I use it to go through my citations quickly. I
can't believe how many uses I found to use the customized report feature in
FTM once I found it. I too hope Legacy comes up with something like this
because it will be one more reason only to use one program.

In defence of Legacy I did find a quick report (Source Citation Listing) that
was so brief that I could notice things in my names that I hadn't before. As
they say, Less is More sometimes.

Another program I like when working with putting in the same source in
multiple places is a clip and paste program called ClipMate. It copies
multiple pieces of information and allows you to paste them as many times as
you like in as many places as you like in what ever order you choose.

It runs in the background when my computer is on and I use it in every
program. I find I can't do without it anymore. It does many other things
such as recording the url's if your clip has been taken from the internet and
gives the option of filing clips you want to keep and even changing the text to
suit your purpose. If your interested you can find out more about it at:
http://www.thornsoft.com/clipmate6.htm

For those that don't want to pay $30 for this you can find many Clip and
Paste programs that are freeware but don't have all the features of this one
but could be what you need. I haven't tried any of the others so can't
comment on their performance.
